The 6th International Young Diplomats School (IYDS) participants explore Zimbabwe’s history and culture during a visit to its Embassy
Islamabad (TDI): The IYDS cohort, organized by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS), visited the Embassy of Zimbabwe as the second stop on the opening day of the program.
This three-day program, themed “Building Network of Future Leaders through Public Diplomacy,” gives International Relations students and mid-career professionals a direct, hands-on glimpse into the world of diplomacy.
Titus M. J. Abu Basutu, Zimbabwe’s ambassador, greeted the participants and offered fresh, lesser-known perspectives on the country’s history, geography, and cultural landscape. He also outlined Zimbabwe’s core foreign policy values and ambitions, and spoke about the bilateral relationship with Pakistan. The ambassador highlighted cultural ties in addition to trade and business links between the two nations.
On the event’s first day, IYDS participants were welcomed earlier at the Austrian residence by Austrian Ambassador Wolfgang Oliver Kutschera. He shared insights into the long-standing Pakistan–Austria relationship and emphasized potential cooperation in education, business, and tourism.
