The Joyful Comeback
After a three-and-a-half-year hiatus, SennaProctor's return to the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) in 2025 was nothing short of remarkable. Despite missing the first three events, he quickly proved his mettle with three podium finishes and a top-ten championship ranking. This achievement is even more impressive considering the lack of pre-season preparation.
Proctor's first race back at Thruxton was a blend of excitement and validation. He explained, "It was great to be back on the track after such a long break. We performed exceptionally well that weekend, making it into the Quick Six and securing three top-ten finishes. It was a wonderful feeling to get back in the groove and deliver results."
An Impressive Campaign
Finishing tenth in the overall championship, having participated in only seven of the ten race weekends, is a testament to Proctor's skill and determination. He said, "Finishing in the top ten after just seven rounds was fantastic. It exceeded my expectations and was a great achievement, especially considering we had no pre-season testing."
The statistics further highlight Proctor's success. Had he contested the full season, he would have ranked between his EXCELR8 Motorsport teammates Adam Morgan and Tom Chilton. This achievement is even more remarkable given the circumstances.
A Joyful Season
Proctor admitted, "We were right on track, but it was a bold move to jump straight into FP1 at the fastest circuit without any test days. However, I believed in my abilities, and it paid off. It was a joyful season, going from watching on the sidelines to producing results beyond my expectations."
Highlights and Memorable Moments
The best weekend of Proctor's season was at his home event, Croft. Despite a challenging qualifying session, he claimed two podium finishes. He said, "Croft was special because it was a home round with family, friends, and sponsors. Qualifying didn't go as planned, but finishing with two podiums was definitely a highlight."
The season finale at Brands Hatch also provided a memorable moment. Proctor charged up ten positions in race two to secure a podium finish. He explained, "The Brands Hatch podium was a great way to end the season. Moving from 13th to 3rd in race two was a real highlight. However, the Croft moments are hard to beat, with great memories and local support."
Looking Ahead
Proctor is excited about the introduction of the Saturday Qualifying Race for the 2026 season. He believes it will play to his strengths, saying, "Another race is always welcome. I enjoy racing and feel it improves my starting position for Sunday. It's a logical step and a positive addition."
As the off-season begins, Proctor is determined to build on the momentum from his comeback year. He aims to secure a seat with a top team in one of the world's best motor racing championships. He said, "The goal is to keep the dream alive and build momentum. Winning the championship is the ultimate goal, and I'm determined to make it happen."
A Decade of Racing
As we approach the eighth year since Proctor's first BTCC victory at Brands Hatch in 2018, he reflects on his time in the championship with pride. He said, "I feel like a veteran now, having been around the paddock for years, even during my break. Starting in 2014 with the TOCA package, I've been a part of this journey for a long time. The first win with the Astra at Brands Hatch was the start of my BTCC career."
With a successful return season behind him and ambitions set on the championship, Proctor continues his quest to secure a seat for 2026. He's determined to maintain the momentum and shine once again.
