In a recent interview, Paul Pogba revealed that his future with the French national team hangs in the balance, with his performance for Monaco being the key determinant.
After a lengthy absence due to a doping ban and injury struggles, Pogba made a promising return to the pitch, showcasing his skills in a brief appearance for Monaco. However, he acknowledged that he is still a long way from being able to play a full match, let alone represent France at the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
"I'm not even close to that level yet," Pogba stated. "My focus is on regaining my fitness and contributing to Monaco's success. If I don't perform well here, my chances of playing for France again diminish."

France, along with Spain and Argentina, are among the favorites to lift the trophy in 2026. The French team, led by Didier Deschamps, will be eager to avenge their penalty shootout defeat to Argentina in the 2022 final.
While Pogba's presence would undoubtedly strengthen their midfield, Deschamps has other talented options at his disposal, including Real Madrid's Tchouaméni and Camavinga, as well as Manu Koné and the experienced N'Golo Kanté.
