The incident occurred between Swindon and Hungerford, with the crash reportedly happening just before 3:30 PM on Saturday, January 3rd. This caused significant congestion, particularly for those heading towards junction 15 at Swindon.
Traffic cameras captured the scene, revealing long queues and slow-moving traffic throughout the afternoon, specifically between Baydon and Lambourn Woodlands.
But here's where it gets controversial... While traffic began to ease around 4:30 PM, substantial delays were still impacting travel times, according to the AA.
The AA's traffic monitoring service provided a detailed update: “Partially blocked and slow traffic due to crash on M4 westbound from junction 14 (A338, Hungerford) to junction 15 (A419 Marlborough Road, Swindon East).”
