Together, they racked up another victory and eleven podiums across five seasons. Binder even topped the KTM standings in the world championship from 2021 to 2024. But this season? He slipped to eleventh. And this is the part most people miss: despite small improvements toward the end, Binder openly admits, ‘Things didn’t quite gel this season… still not competitive, so still got some work to do.’
Enter Phil Marron, a name that’s no stranger to success. After stints with Eugene Laverty in MotoGP and a dominant run with Toprak Razgatlioglu in WorldSBK—including a world title with Yamaha—Marron is back in the MotoGP paddock. But here’s where it gets controversial: Yamaha surprisingly let the Razgatlioglu-Marron duo slip away, allowing KTM to swoop in. Binder’s sentiments about Madrid are heartfelt: ‘He’s like a brother to me. I’m really going to miss Andres,’ he shared at Valencia. Yet, he’s equally excited about Marron, describing him as ‘full of cool ideas’ and ‘really excited to jump back into the MotoGP paddock.’ Their partnership kicks off at Tuesday’s official test, where Marron has already been immersing himself in the KTM garage.
Meanwhile, the paddock buzz doesn’t stop there. Razgatlioglu is pairing up with Alberto Giribuola at Pramac Yamaha, and Andres Madrid is moving to Tech3 to work with Enea Bastianini.
