A powerful call for change has been issued by Bobi Wine, the charismatic presidential candidate of the National Unity Platform (NUP), as he takes on the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in a battle for Uganda's future. But here's where it gets controversial: Bobi Wine accuses the NRM of deliberately holding back the Greater Nebbi region, leaving it in a state of neglect and underdevelopment for nearly four decades.
On his high-voltage campaign trail through West Nile, Bobi Wine arrived in Zombo District with a mission. He paid his respects at the grave of a fallen bodyguard, a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by those who stand with him. The atmosphere was electric as enthusiastic supporters, donning the NUP's iconic red attire, eagerly awaited his arrival. As his convoy passed through Paidha Town Council, the town came alive with the sound of whistles and vuvuzelas, a testament to the energy and hope that his presence brings.
Speaking to a massive crowd at Kyambogo University Playground, Bobi Wine highlighted the stark reality of Zombo's plight. He pointed to the lack of basic infrastructure, such as tarmac roads, the crumbling state of school buildings, and the chronic underfunding of healthcare facilities, leaving health workers demoralized and unable to provide adequate care. He also drew attention to the discriminatory salary structures that have divided teachers and demoralized the education sector.
"This is not mere failure; it is a calculated political strategy to keep regions like Zombo on their knees," Bobi Wine declared. He accused the NRM of punitive governance and regional exclusion, a deliberate attempt to starve the region of essential services and infrastructure.
But Bobi Wine is not just a critic; he offers a vision of hope and change. He outlined his people-centric agenda, promising an immediate overhaul of the healthcare system with adequate funding and fair pay for medical workers. He vowed to end salary discrimination among teachers, ensuring free, quality education with modern infrastructure. Additionally, he pledged to reduce punitive taxes on boda-boda motorcycles, compensate war victims, release political prisoners, and wage an uncompromising war on corruption, which he believes is bleeding the country dry.

They praised his pledges to resolve the pay crisis in the education sector and his vow to tackle corruption, which has strangled service delivery.
